Creative Zii EGG: Another look at the development kit

A video preview of a developer edition of the Creative Zii EGG has recently showed up on Engadget, the developer edition is a very early version of the device and is subject to change. The video gives a quick look at the design and the OS. Checkout the video preview at the end of this post.

The Zii EGG has a standard USB Mini port which is used for both charging and data transfer, along with this you have a proprietary dock slot, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a SDHC memory card slot and a dedicated camera button.

The build quality of the Zii EGG looks very appealing and well made, its external casing is made out of robust looking plastic and so is the touchscreen, one thing that was mentioned about the Zii EGG is that it has a thin protective film on the touchscreen which is a bit too noticeable.

The video shows some basic functionality of the portable media player, you get to see it connected to WiFi and you can also see its Opera web browser, the browser looks much better when in landscape mode (via accelerometer). You also get to see the standard music player interface, which is slightly sluggish due to un-optimized code.

All in all for a developer edition the Zii EGG looks pretty impressive, however until we see the finalized version we will have to hold judgment, check out Engadget for more details.
