PS3 Slim vs. Playstation 3 First-Gen: Energy consumption compared
By: Alan Ng | August 28, 2009 | Leave a CommentWe have an interesting article for you to read now, which discusses in detail the actual power consumption of the new PS3 Slim console, when compared to the original model. We knew that the PS3 Slim would use ‘less power’ than the PS3 fat, but Cnet has conducted tests and found that the PS3 Slim actually uses half of the power that the PS3 fat consumes.
Cnet conducted tests on both consoles and have listed a comparison chart, as well as various images for you to check out. As you can see from their results, the PS3 Slim uses 0.36 Watts compared to the Fat’s 1.22 in standby mode.
Heres the important one though as while in Idle mode, the Slim used 96.24 Watts compared to a staggering 206.90 Watts for the PS3 Fat.
Check out Cnet’s article for full results from the comparison. Let us know your thoughts on this.
