A photo has recently showed up on Engadget which seems to suggest that we should see the HTC TouchPro 2 available on Sprint for a launch date of September 8th, the price seems to be $599.99, however this will be greatly reduced when purchased as part of a contract.
At the moment the legitimacy of the source is still unknown, however in my opinion the photo looks pretty genuine. There is more leaked information here, which shows more information on the handset, including a cross comparison between the Touch Pro 2, the LG Monaco, the HTC Warhawk and the Samsung Omnia II.
As we hear more official information we will keep you posted, in the mean time check out Engadget’s article here.

I really wish Sprint would just publish the official release date, or better yet - release the phone! I’ve been waiting impatiently since May 20th, when the rumors first started indicating a June release. The current rumored release date of 9/8 is only a few days later from the last rumored release date of 9/3, but when you’ve been waiting for months and T-mobile has it now, it’s frustrating.
I called Sprint. They said September 8th. It will be running WM 6.1 upgradeable for free to 6.5 from HTC. At this point almost all Sprint employees seem to know its release date is early September. Too bad it won’t have the VGA camera in the front and only the 3.2mp camera in the back.
A lot of times, product release is gated on the engineering team getting the thing to work reliably. Even worse than not announcing and releasing on a specific date is releasing a buggy phone. I wonder if not announcing a specific date is at least partially due to such issues.
“the current rumored release date of 9/8 is only a few days later from the last rumored release date of 9/3″
Both release dates are true. Sept 8 is the in-store official date. Sept 3 is the date business accounts can order through “Brightpoint.” This spread of dates is not uncommon with Sprint.
Good news is our business account guy says $250.
Please understand that the sprint version had the headphone jack installed. Can’t say how much that add-on usually takes, but you have to imagine that it would be one cause for the delay. Do you want to use your headset through a ridiculous USB adapter? Probably not.
