The Mini Coupé Concept: Specs and Photos
By: Peter Chubb | August 26, 2009 | Leave a CommentFor months, there have been a number of rumors about what BMW will do to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original Mini designed by Alec Issigonis. Well all those rumors can now be laid to rest as we have learned from Autoblog that the Mini Coupé Concept will be on show at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
You will notice from the range of photos that are on the Autoblog website that the new Mini Coupé Concept is different from the beltline up. The upright windshield that has been much the same since the Mini was first launched now gets a sweptback look, this looks perfect with the new truncated roof covers.
The new two-seater Mini Coupé Concept will be powered by the powerful 1.6-litre twin-scroll turbocharged engine, the same used in the MINI John Cooper Works. This power unit pushes out up to 155 kW/211 hp, with a peak torque 260 Newton-metres/192 lb-ft. There is also an Overboost function that pushes the torque to 280 Newton-metres/206 lb-ft.
