Sony: PS3 Firmware 3.0 release will be last update in 2009
By: Alan Ng | August 26, 2009 | 6 CommentsSony have just confirmed that the upcoming firmware 3.0 update – due to release on 1st September along with the PS3 Slim, will be the last update for the Playstation 3 for this year.
As reported from Eurogamer, the news was confirmed by Playstation Network director Eric Lempel. However, he said this applied to ‘major’ updates, so there still might be minor updates on the way, especially if there are bugs present in firmware 3.0.
When speaking to G4, Lempel also confirmed that the company are ‘working on other things’, as he explained:
“We do want to continue to evolve the PS3, continue to go along our roadmap, but also listen to what the users are saying and making the necessary enhancements to make their experience better.”
It’s all good Eric, firmware update 3.0 will probably keep PS3 owners happy for a good while we imagine. Let us know your opinions on his comments.
