Batman: Arkham Asylum – Game of the year already?

The game was only released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in North America yesterday, but already critics are labelling Batman: Arkham Asylum as a potential candidate for game of the year already.

We’re not kidding either, we have checked out a good amount of previews and reviews ourselves for the game, not to mention had a good session of the demo that was released onto the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace recently.

For a ‘Superhero’ game to be recieving all these plaudits, the guys at Rocksteady Studios have obviously found the perfect balance and finally delivered a truly great superhero game to fans.

    I started playing Batman: Arkham Asylum last night and quickly came to realize that this is finally a Batman game that actually looks like it’s part of the story. In the past the games have only focused on getting the bad guy, like so many other games. This game is about using wits, smarts, and toys.
    The history that the game follows by incorporating the little known characters (And by that I mean those that haven’t been seen in movies. Characters that most people don’t even know exist)as vital roles in the game.
    The graphics and movements are fantastic and realistic. I just can’t get enough of it right now. I’m sure that, like Ghostbusters The Video Game (not critically acclaimed, but entertaining to me)this game will not only bring on a new wave of fans, but will keep gamers entertained for hours.
    I can’t speak about how it might be The Game of the Year, since I’m fairly selective about the games I purchase and have a booming array of 5 games right now. But, I’d be willing to bet that it’ll give every other game that comes out this year a run for it’s money.

    I got the collector’s edition on the midnight release. I have to say this is going to be game of the year no doubt. Every thing about this game is amazing. I have been spending most of my time playing this amazing game!
