PS3 Slim release date and shipping confusion

There seems to be some confusion about the release date and shipping details about the new Sony PS3 Slim. According to Punch Jump, Amazon.com stated last week that the new slimmer PlayStation 3 would begin shipping this week; this is a week earlier than we first thought.

Sony announced the launch of the PS3 Slim last week and stated that the new games console will begin shipping on September 1. So who are we to believe, Sony who produce the consoles or Amazon who will be supplying them?

The new PS3 Slim is lighter and smaller than the original PlayStation 3. Do not think that there is less hardware inside, you will now get a massive 120GB hard drive, you still get the Blu-ray player and finally the new PS3 slim comes with an upgraded cell processor.

So the question is what is the true release date, August 25 or September 1?

Well.. The GS website lists it as being shipped today but if you call their store they tell ya the 1st of September. These guys need to get their facts straight.
