Cash for Appliances: LIPA offer $75 rebate for select refrigerator

The federal government are doing all they can to help with its economic stimulus plan, which is why they are to offer each state rebates for consumers who purchase new appliances, such as refrigerators. The new refrigerators purchased have to be energy efficient in order to qualify for the rebate; this also counts for washing machines, and dishwashers.

According to The Examiner, the new Cash for Appliances program is due to start this fall. Unlike the recent Cash for Clunkers program, you will not have to trade in your old appliance in order to get the rebate. There are two goals here, the first is to help conserve electricity and the second is to help promote consumer spending. If the federal government achieves this, then this will certainly help increase sales on the build up to the holiday season.

Just recently, the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) has started to offer a great deal on a cash for refrigerator program. For those who purchase an Energy Star refrigerator by September 30 and is larger than 7.5 cubic feet, they will then be eligible for a $75 rebate.

Consumers will soon be able to receive a $30 cashback for having their old refrigerator taken away and disposed of properly.
