Modern Warfare 2: Do you want night vision goggles?

As most of you will be aware, Infinity Ward are offering up a real pair of night vision goggles to customers who purchase the special ‘Prestige Edition’ of upcoming shooter Modern Warfare 2 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The question is though, with demand very high for these Goggles, are they really that important to you?
At the moment, Amazon are offering up the Prestige Edition for $149.99 with free shipping, considering how well pre-order sales are going at the moment, this price is unlikely to move for a good while.
As for UK users, the Prestige Edition is unavailable from retailers such as Amazon UK and Play, so many gamers are expected to miss out on the googles.
Let us know if you plan on pre-ordering the Prestige Edition, or if you are not too bothered about the goggles.

“Real” haha, as in cheap plastic rubbish led NVG with no real night vision capability you mean. Im a PC gamer (where the FPS Belongs) and Because IW know that they cant fool us PC owners with cheap toy crap they didnt bother with the prestige edition for PC !, £149.99 for plastic toy goggles , lol , ill be laughing at this for months.
the night vision goggles do not cost 150 dollars they r close to 60 they are crap don tbuy them and fps belongs on the 360 not pc faggot

Spawnster you know nothing of the goggles all we have seen is the unboxing of them. You or no other none IW or manufacture of the goggles have held them or tested them. I know the arent Military spec and most likely more toyish but who cares. Seems your sore due to the fact its not coming to PC.
I HAVE USED THE STYLE AND U CANT SEE VERY FAR BUT THAT IS VERY GOOD PRICE
if you can read it says 149.99 ‘dollers’ and they wont be cheap or activision will get alot of complaints and i dont think they would want that?
I’m glad that I pre-ordered them in early June of this summer. I do believe that the NVG’s will be a good quality and not a cheep set of goggles. After all they will se up to 50+ feet. Can’t wait till it comes out……. Only one mor day!!!
Food for thought, the special edition w/o goggles comes to $79.99. With goggles comes to $150.00. This essentially means the goggles have a retail value (With markup) of maybe fifty dollars. The cheapest pair of U.S Spec NVG’s I was able to find were around $400 off the shelf w/o direct retail pricing. I also work in retail myself and our company happens to sell a mono NVG for hunting, that is priced at $279.00
Is it safe to say the goggles are going to be cheap?
Yes, it is quite safe to assume that. A decent pair of binoculars sells for over $50.00 on par; so I am under the assumption that while these NVG’s are the real deal; they will be of extremely poor quality. And more for the aesthetic value than anything else.
You’re a moron and you’ve obviously never been involved in a business that purchases large quantities of anything. If Infinity Ward intends on purchasing several million pairs of NVGs I assure you they will not be paying full price for them. Just because you pay $1.59 for a plastic cup at McDonalds doesn’t mean it costs them $1.59. In addition, I doubt you actually work in any type of retail or you’d be aware of a things like mark-ups and profit margins. You’re probably the guy outside on the corner holding the sale sign.
Also, i have wondered if they are cheap or not and the very first pair of night vision we found was for $70. LOLOLOLOLOL
u can still get the prestige edition for xbox 360 on ebay. haha not many left. only one in the UK left on ebay. u can get them sent from american users who will ship it worldwide or to europe.
its really stupid how HMV is the only retailer in the UK that can sell this edition of the game and now its unavailable on xbox 360. you cant even get amazon US to ship them over cos of the stupid licensing laws or whatever. FFS i want my goggles!
Yep, already pre-ordered the Prestige edition. The cost of the NVGs should be enough for the price. & it looks like it’s a true collectors item with only a limited number being produced.
Well, I have been doing research, and what I found out is that these are not military grade NVGs. These are like to eyeclops NVGs that sell for 70 dollars U.S. If you carefully look at the video, you can see about 8 or 9 little Infrared light bulbs. These light bulbs illuminate but you cannot see it with the naked eye. Its like the light bulb in your tv remote. You can see in pitch blackness, but if you were being watched with someone who also had NVGs on, he would see you without a problem. It will look like you have a flashlight on your head. But who is to say you will be in a firefight and need goggles without the infrared technology.
the game company knows to well that putting real goggles in there is like putting a lawsuite in a box so therefor these are just inferered flashlights
