Damage modeling added to PS3′s Gran Turismo 5
By: Alan Ng | August 20, 2009 | 5 CommentsWell it is a feature that most GT fans have been crying out for, but it was finally confirmed at GamesCom. Gran Turismo will feature damage modelling and we have a great video to show you which proves this.
As explained over at Cnet, not all the cars featured in Gran Turismo 5 will suffer from damage on the track. It has been reported that out of 1000 cars in GT, 170 of them will be dubbed ‘premium’ cars and will feature full interior modelling as well as vehicle damage. The remaining 830 will be classed as ‘standard’ models and will just feature external damage.
To see these new effects in action, just check out the video below. It shows the after effects of an Subaru Impreza STI rally car, after it has been driven into the side barriers by an incoming Mitsubishi EVO.
To those of you who are thinking Forza has moved ahead of GT, think again. We look forward to the Tokyo Game Show, where more details are bound to be released.
