PS3′s new $299 price, will it make you buy?

Sony has now officially announced the launch of the new PSP Slim, watch the first unboxing video. The new PS3 now comes with a $299 price tag and for that, you get a slimmer games console, but more hard drive space. The question is would the lower price make you buy it?

The new Sony PlayStation 3 Slim now comes with a matte black finish, so no more horrible finger marks being left on the console. Something else that you will now notice is that the touch buttons have gone; in its place are now physical click buttons.

The hard drive can now be taken out easily from the front of the machine; this can be done from the hidden panel at the bottom. The new PSP Slim a much lighter and much slimmer, so if you wish to purchase a new PS3, hold off until the new model is available from September 1.

Is the new PS3 Slim going to be backwards compatible? That’s the real deal breaker if not..

  • jamall

no unfortunatly the ps3 does not have backwards compatibility. 0%. It does not have other OS support either, but it does have a whoppin 120gb hard drive, it is smaller and lighter and takes up less space. And since it use less energy to run you wont worry about an increasing light bill

The fact that it is smaller, lighter, and takes up less space is irrelevant because that means since it still does not have backwards compatibility, I will still have my playstation 2 sitting right next to it taken up more space.

    *taking up more space.

I want one system that plays both games, not two seperate systems

meh, Sony sucks these days… I still own a ps3, but the only feature that made people want it orginally was BC, I mean come on 3 years and only 10 good games at the most, blue ray players can now be bought for $100 so in the end it’s just a paperweight that can play what xbox doesn’t get or want for it’s selection (again, 10 games) … Sony used to be a great company, now they just want to make a buck so that investors don’t lose much when they close their doors for good.

Don’t get me wrong, I hate the game companies that seem to bend over and take it from Microsoft via DLC/Microsoft’s business practices so I am not a Microsoft fanboy bashing Sony, I think both companies suck but at least I don’t have my old xbox cramped next to my 360

“blue ray players can now be bought for $100″? Where can you find a blu ray player for $100?!!

    Seriously, I want to know.

Walmart has blue ray’s, the magnavox low end blue ray goes for $98.
