Recently a new article showed up on Engadget showing two new Garmin Nuvi models, these are the Garmin Nuvi 1690 and the Garmin Nuvi 1860. Not only did information leak regarding the hardware details, but also a few screenshots of their user interface and web browser have also leaked.
The Garmin Nuvi 1690 should be available some time around September 3rd, it features a 4.3 inch WVGA display and supports such technologies as text-to-speech, Bluetooth handsfree connectivity, and EDGE data.
Edge data allows you to receive information such as weather forecasts, flight statuses, fuel prices, movie times and traffic details. The feature also enables you to use Google’s search function to find local search results.
The Garmin Nuvi 1860 has a 4.8 inch WVGA display, a Linux Operating System, built in WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, along with this it has lane assist, a traffic receiver and text-to-speech.
One of the best things about the 1860 is the fact it has a web browser which supports YouTube, it also has a multimedia player, it allows access to email and can also stream radio and video, obviously this is dependant on an active internet connect which you have to supply. As standard the 1860 also comes with a 3 megapixel camera with geotagging.
