If you are one of those who missed the cheap Windows 7 pre-order prices you may well be wondering how you can get your hands on Windows 7 without paying a price that seems extortionate when compared to the pre-order pricing. A four page article has recently shown up on ComputerWorld which looks into options available to you without having to pay the full retail price.
Obviously many of people will be taking the illegal option and pirating a copy, however there are also a few legal options available to you. One of these options is to download the Windows 7 release candidate, although this version is not as finished as the RTM version it is completely free, there is one major catch and this is that the release candidate will expire as of March 2010, still you can’t really complain for free software.
If you were part of the “Technical Beta Program” as a reward for your services Microsoft are giving free copy’s of Windows 7 Ultimate, obviously this is not available to everyone, however if you think you may be eligible check out Microsoft’s Connect website (just because you used the beta it does not mean you are eligible).
To see other details on your options check out ComputerWorld’s fully detailed article here.
