PS3 Slim Confirmed at GamesCom 2009

Well here is the official announcement that we have all been waiting for. Sony have just confirmed the existance of the PS3 Slim at their GamesCom press conference. We have details, specs, price and a release period for you to check out.

As reported from Kotaku, the PS3 Slim will be available during the first week of Septemer, although the exact date will vary depending on country. As for the design, it looks a lot like those leaked pictures that were the first ones to come out, and also appears to be less reflective than the original. I’m not quite sure what to make of the design yet, let’s hope a close-up video is released soon.

As for size, the PS3 Slim is about half the size of the original model. Sony have stated that the Slim is 32% smaller, 36% lighter and has 34% less power comsuption.

The PS3 Slim will launch with 120GB of storage and will be priced at 299 Euros and $299 over in America. We’ll report on more details soon. Let us know your impressions of the design.
