PS3 Price Drop Now Official: GamesCom 2009

Along with the PS3 Slim, we pretty much expected this one as well. Sony confirmed at their press conference at GamesCom, that they will be cutting the price of their existing Playstation 3 SKU’s by $100.

As reported from Joystiq, the price cut will go into effect as of tomorrow, with all retailers expected to update their listings accordingly. As you will be aware, a few retailers already jumped the gun before Sony’s announcement so we wonder if Sony are planning to hand out some punishment to the guilty parties.

Now that the news is out on the PS3 Slim and price cuts, we can now all return to our normal lives, thankfully. Let us know your thoughts on the price cut.

It was stupid of Sony to make it so expensive in the first place.

OMG! I just bought a PS3 recently, and now THIS comes up??? Why didn’t they tell us before I went and bought it! The good thing is that futureshop policy allows a refund if the item has a price drop. But now there is a PS3 Slim! At the same price?? I wonder if I can trade in the PS3 for the Slim version…

Sony was not stupid I think you are i hate facebook. They were priced high because they had blu-rays built into them and blu-ray players were all very high back when they first came out. I’m glad the price is down so the sales will go up.
