LG BL40 Chocolate Touch: Video Hands-on
By: Jamie Pert | August 18, 2009 | Leave a CommentThe new LG Chocolate aka the BL40 has recently shown up on Engadget and I must say it looks like one of the nicest LG phones I have ever seen, not only does it have a nice looking physical design but the operating environment also looks great, the handset has a rumored release date of August 23rd.
The phone pretty much has no buttons part from a power button, volume/zoom control and a dedicated camera button, the rest of the functions are carried out on the massive 4 inch display, this display dominates the handset and looks extremely bright and vibrant.
The handset has quite a long and narrow design and is also quite thin, it has a 5 megapixel camera, 3.5mm audio jack, accelerometer and built in WiFi and HSDPA, where this handset really excels is with its user interface.
The interface gives the handset a seemingly 3d interface which has different ‘desktop-like’ sides of a cube for differnet tasks, the handset also has customizable widgets to drop onto different sides of the cube.
For me the most impressive visual effect the handset shows is when you are using the web browser and switch to landscape mode, to see this effect check out the video below. The instant switch between landscape and portrait displays is also impressive when compared to delayed reaction of the Nokia N95 /N96 AND N97.
