Palm Pre: Incoming slump may lead to price cut
By: Alan Ng | August 16, 2009 | Leave a CommentIt has been reported that the Palm Pre smartphone is suffering a slump in sales in the US. This may have a positive effect for customers still looking to purchase one, as we may see a price cut before Christmas, in an attempt to boost sales.
According V3, Palm Pre sales in July were down to about 100,000 units, compared to from 200,000 in June. As a result of poor sales, analysts are now revising figures for the end of August quarter, from 400,000 units to 350,000.
It was widely thought that Palm were depending on sales of the Pre to ‘save the company’ so to speak, but juding by these poor figures, the company will look to turn it around in the holiday season.
