Intel 34nm SSD’s: Now Shipping Again
By: Jamie Pert | August 14, 2009 | Leave a CommentFollowing the release of the new Intel 34nm SSD’s a problem was found which put a damper on the otherwise successful release. The problem related to a possible occurrence of data corruption following removal of a BIOS password. Before this problem was found the SSD market had been heavily impacted by this release.
This problem caused Intel to stop manufacturing the drive, and also caused retailers to stop selling them, however Intel have now created a fix for the issue, the patch is now available on Intel’s download center, whilst it will stop that issue from occurring, it will not restore data that was previously lost due to the problem.
Now the fix has been created Intel have now started re-shipping the drives, these drives should be available to purchase soon. Head over to arstechnica for full details.
