GPush: iPhone Gmail App

By: Jamie Pert | August 14, 2009 | 1 Comment

For those of you that have a Gmail account and an iPhone, a new application will soon be available at the App Store which will instantly notify you when you receive an new email. The application is called GPush and although it is not yet currently available it should hit the App Store soon.

The GPush application uses push-notifications to instantly notify you when an email is received, however the application does not allow you to read or reply to that email, for that you will have to use your preferred Gmail client.

The application will be selling at the App Store for $0.99, however this for the first week, after this initial launch price it will cost double that. Check out IntoMobile for full details.

I have sent an email to Apple and Steve Jobs urging them to check out the company behind an app before they approve it. I purchased GPush Friday evening. It worked until Saturday morning when it failed and hasn't worked since. I understand Tiverias is having server problems, but that is no excuse. An app should be ready to go when it is approved. Tiverias had almost 5 weeks to be prepared, but they blew it. It reflects badly on Apple to approve an app and have it immediately fail. they need to do a better job. They should be very leery of approving any further apps from Tiverias. I know I won't be buying anything they make in the future.
