AMD Fastest Chip: Phenom II X4

AMD have recently introduced their latest and greatest quad-core processor, the Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition. This processor has been manufactured with the task of competing with Intel’s Core i7 desktop processors.

The Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition boasts the highest ever stock core frequency for a quad-core-processor, this frequency is 3.4GHz. For overclockers this core speed can be tweaked even higher.

These AMD chips support high-speed DDR3 memory, and are also backward compatible to work in AM2+ motherboards with DDR2 memory. However for the greatest experience AMD recommend running the Phenom II X4 with Dragon’s AM3 motherboard which features the AMD-7 series chipset and also running the recently released ATI Radeon HD 4890 graphics card.

The Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition is expected to retail for approximately $245, however no details on release dates have yet been confirmed. Check out InformationWeek for full details.
