Good news for Facebook users now, as it has been reported that beta testing is underway with a new, stripped down version of Facebook. It’s going to be called ‘Facebook Lite’ and offers users a low bandwidth version of the popular social networking site.
As reported from TechTree, Facebook Lite won’t contain any of the apps, or any of the countless adds-ons that have begun to overtake the current version. Users will just be able to log on to Facebook Lite to update statuses, comment and send messages.
You’ll still be able to look at photos, but its been reported that Facebook Lite will load everything up a lot more quicker than it’s bigger brother.
As it stands, Facebook Lite is currently in beta stage, with selected Facebook users given the chance to try out the features of Facebook Lite. TechTree reports that the Facebook team are trying out their ‘Lite’ version in countries where Facebook is unknown, in order to get them used to a more simple approach to social networking.
Judging from initial impressions of Facebook Lite, it looks a lot more like the service that Twitter offers in my opinion, funny that. Have you had a chance to test Facebook Lite yet? If so, what are your impressions of it, we’d love to know.
