Cash for Clunkers: Toyota Cars in the 2009 program

By: Peter Chubb | August 12, 2009 | 1 Comment

The Cash for Clunkers program has confused so many of us, but at least we are finally getting to understand what it is all about and what cars qualify. Toyota has 25 vehicles that qualify for the Car Allowance Rebate System. Seventeen are from Toyota’s range of cars, SUVs and trucks and Five from Lexus.

Some of the cars that appear on the list might not qualify if they have certain optional extras. Some of the cars that appear on the list include the Camry and Camry Hybrid, Corolla, Matrix, RAV4 and many more. Some of the Lexus models include the GS 350 and the RX 350. See the full list here

We recently reported that since Friday August 7, 2009 more than 245,384 Cash for Clunkers claims were submitted. If this figure is true, then this could total to $1,030,000,000, considering there was only another $2 billion put into the program, there is not much left in the pot.

If these claims keep up with the same pace, then the Cash For Clunkers program will run out of funding in one weeks time.

This money should not be used to buy japanese cars, its our money and should stay here, why should it be used to support japans economy, there should be a clause in the program, american cars only, people do not make sense, do they realize they are causing harm? isn’t this supposed to help our economy? not if its used for imports, go america!
