Nokia N97 Review: Fails with e-mail and social network integration

A fully detailed review of the Nokia N97 has recently been posted on InformationWeek, the review looks very deep into its functionality and to be honest all in all the review doesn’t come back all that favorably, especially when considering its $700 price tag. To check out the full five page review head over to InformationWeek here.

There are many different complaints with handset, one of the major complaints is with its keyboard there are only three rows of characters, whilst this is fine for writing standard words it does mean you have to hold a function key to get to other characters, previous models like the E72 and E75 have much better keyboards.

Other criticisms include the integration with social media is not as good as competing models which cost a lot less, along with this the phone doesn’t cut it for enterprise users, enterprise users will be better of sticking to Windows Mobile and BlackBerry OS handsets.

Its not all bad as the Nokia N97’s image and video capture is impressive, and the handset has a good browser and has good stability, however for a $700 top end handset this isn’t enough, that said a lot of its issues are software based the handset may improve with new software versions.

I have been using N97 since 3 July 2009 the signal for Vodafone is very bad and still I have trouble connecting. Personally, I have to charge the phone almost every 24 hours as the battery runs low. Connection to the Internet is very slow indeed. But I am stuck with a 18 months contract. Ce la vie.

As a business phone it is nowhere there. Nokia needs to do some serious thinking or they will perish like dinosaurs. Unless there is major improvement then people like me will avoid Nokia in the future.
