Macs vs. Windows PCs: Web Speed
By: Jamie Pert | August 11, 2009
According to an article on electronista, during recent tests using FutureMark’s Peacekeeper web code test Apple’s systems are 5 to 10 percent faster on average when compared to Windows system with an equivalent hardware setup.
Not only does this occur on their standard browser but also on cross platform browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Opera and also Apple’s Safari. According to the tests currently the fastest browser on Windows is Google’s Chrome browser and the fastest on Apple is Safari. Chrome is currently not available for Apple.
A couple of surprising statistics show just how far away Internet Explorer 8 is from the leading pack, tests completed on Internet Explorer 8 five times slower than Chrome and Safari. One unsurprising statistic shows that Windows 7 performed better in the tests than Windows Vista, however it still trailed behind Apple’s Mac OS X.

Do you feel a Max OS X compatible version of Google Chrome would out perform Safari?
