GM Chevy Volt miles per gallon figures outlined

The GM Chevy Volt, which could go on sale on eBay, is thought to achieve at least 230 miles per gallon in the city, this would work out to around $2.75 in electricity for each 100 miles driven. These are the miles per gallon figures outlined by General Motors.

ZDNet reports that General Motors will begin production of the Chevy Volt in late 2010 and will appear as a 2011 model. These figures that GM have issued are all dependant on how you drive and what you have running while driving.

Factors that can affect your miles per gallon figure will be if you decide to use your air conditioning and the amount of passengers that you have in your car. This could be a huge problem, if it is hot outside you will want to keep cool and turn the air conditioning on, then you face the worry of not having enough charge to make it to your destination.

There have been a number of reports as to the price of the Volt, the most popular being around the $40,000 mark.

I wonder how this is calculated. I am curious how the electricity is factored in. For instance, does an all-electric golf cart get infinity mpg? Does my bicycle? The electricity is fuel, in this case, but how is that accounted for? If anybody knows, I’d really like to understand that. My bicycle could be the new champion!
