PS3 Firmware 3.0 Plans: Update
By: Peter Chubb | August 10, 2009
At the Gamescom press event in Cologne, Germany, Sony were discussing a number of things to do with its PS3. The first was of course the upcoming PS3 Slim; the second was the price for the PSP Go and the third thing that is to be discussed is plans for PS3 Firmware 3.0.
According to PlayStation Insider, the announcement will be made in a possible video form. There are rumors that the PS3 firmware 3.0 update could coincide with the launch of the new PlayStation Network. Sony has recently sent out emails, which hinted at a new PSN on August 18, so these rumors have now gained some credibility.
There are a number of rumors now circulating as to what new features the new PlayStation Firmware 3.0 update will have. One such rumor was that users will pay a one flat rate for a premium service, allowing for unlimited downloads.
Some other features that we are hoping for include voice chat, video messaging or chat, etc.

“Some other features that we are hoping for include voice chat, video messaging or chat, etc.”
FYI. You may want to alter this line to state “in-game”.
You can already do voice and video chat. It’s just not in-game.
You can also text message as long as you are all playing the same game online.
Cross Game stuff is what some people are looking for. I really could care less.
