Modern Warfare 2: Focus on piracy

Modern Warfare 2: Focus on piracy

By: Alan Ng | August 10, 2009 | 11 Comments

We have an interesting article for you to read now, which discusses the upcoming release of Modern Warfare 2, which is being published by Activision. The company have come in for a lot of criticism lately, mainly due to their price hike for MW2, leading to speculation that many gamers are going to pirate the game on Xbox 360 and PC, in retaliation at Activision.

Head to HDWarriors to check out their article on this subject. With a retail price of around $90, gamers have been letting their thoughts and feelings known over on countless forums, blogs and boards – in a hope that Activsion take notice of whats clearly made them a hate figure at the moment.

At the end of the day though, is it all really worth it? Theres no doubt in my mind that Modern Warfare 2 is going to be an amazing game, offering countless hours of online entertainment with friends. Who wouldn’t pay extra for that?

You quote “Who wouldn’t pay extra for that?” me for one, they are money grabbing sods who know this will be the biggest game of the year so they are exploiting us gamers.

This is going to be one of the biggest pirated games for years.
Me, im waiting untill i can get it 2nd hand which means Activision get no money from me.

looks like its going to be the game of the year. cant wait to download it ha ha ha!!

I won’t be buying it full price. I’ll wait for second hand offers.

In a way it’s good for other games coming out at around the same time as they’ll pick them up instead of the smash hit this game could have been with regards to sales. I’ll be getting BAd Company or Forza 3 instead.

Almost all of my friends have said the exact same thing. Activision have cut off their nose to spite their face.

Are you guys stupid or something I don’t think it matters the price the game is going to be amazing and so what if you 3 or 4 don’t get it that means 3 or 4 more people will so stop complaining about it just buy the regular priced game or collectors edition $64.04 or $80

I can not believe what i’m reading! All you people who pirate games are going to be the downfall of games. The less money they make the less time they spend on making them. This just leads to games with no original plot and shotty gameplay. If I know that i’m going to play a game for months and enjoy it, I will for sure throw 30 extra dollars at them. There is nothing else that you can buy for $90 that will have an entertainment value that lasts for months.

Firstly, thanks for your feedback guys.

@Phil – Yeah, thats kind of the point I was trying to make there. Being a gamer myself, I’m not too pleased that Activision have increased the price just as everyone else, but having said that, i’d happily pay a bit extra to be kept busy for months!

Theres no way I’m gonna sit here watching the other guys at PR play it and miss out on all the action!

Bring on November 10th baby.. :D

Just buy the game! If you think that pirating the game is the solution to inflation, then you are obviously an ignorant arse. No wonder the theory of evolution exists… some people are a lot closer to being monkeys than others.

let’s hope this doesnt start a trend

Man, I totally agree with you. Its pure lambs’ shit what they’re doing to UK gamers and you know what? I’m gonna pirate the ever living hell out of that game as soon as I grab it. And what really ticks me off is not just the price hike, but that Activision doesn’t even need it!! They’re not bankrupt, losing money, or anything!! THAT’S CRAP. It’s like they’re saying “F*ck you, consumer! We’ll rob you even though we don’t need the money.”

for one the only version of the game that is more than $100 is the Prestige Edition that comes with Night Vision Goggles.
The price of the normal game is like $65 and the Hardened is $75. What is the problem here?? Your $90 price tag you put on it is a crock of shit. I have been following this game since it was announced and the reg. game price is still the same it was when they fist put it out for pre-order. You need to learn how to do research a lil better or stop whining because your to broke to afford the “SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION” That is only for sale for pre-orders anyway.
