Gamescom 2009: PS3 Slim, Price Cuts, 3.0 Firmware, and New PSN

In a recent article, we picked up on the discussion of a possible announcement of the new Sony PS3 3.0 Firmware at Gamescom 2009. Other subjects that will also be discussed is the August release date of the new Sony PS3 Slim, further PS3 price cuts as well as the upcoming launch of the new PSN.

TheSixthAxis sources believe that Sony could make an announcement at some stage today on some of these subjects. It seems that a number of retailers could be about to reduce the price of the PlayStation 3 to just €299, that price includes the game, this price could even be reduced to as low as €249.

This price drop certainly looks to be paving the way for the new PS3 Slim, which is rumored to have a release date of August 30, 2009. The new PSN is rumored to be getting some snazzy new features, including unlimited downloads by signing up to a premium service.
