Cash For Clunkers Program 2009: Making sense of it
By: Jamie Pert | August 10, 2009
An article on the BeaufortObserver looks into the Cash for Clunkers program, whilst the Cash for Clunkers scheme does put more economical cars on the road, it does however result in many perfectly good cars, trucks and SUV’s being destroyed.
Many of these vehicles are in fine running condition however to qualify for the governments money they musts be destroyed by the dealers. Whilst I understand that in the long run this is better for the U.S economy and also better for the environment surely some border line vehicles should not just simply be destroyed.
If you check out the full article on BeaufortObserver for a detailed look into their argument. Personally I feel that a small percentage of vehicles should be kept, certainly the vehicles that are running fine with a reasonable mile-per-gallon.
