AT&T’s new Point Anywhere RF remote for U-Verse customers

Standard remote controls are not that great when it comes to controlling our electronic devices over a long distance or through walls, but things are about to change. AT&T has released the U-verse TV Point Anywhere RF Remote Control, offering a much better range than from traditional infrared remotes.

The new remote offers all the latest features that you have come to love from the AT&T U-verse TV. The new controller means that you can control a device without the need of line of sight; you can control your TV, entertainment center, Blu-ray player and other devices from another room without the need for a power cord or antenna.

The new control works with the help of a plug-n-play USB adaptor. There is a huge list of pre-programmed codes for most major brands of devices. There is also a learning feature, which also provides audio and visual feedback.

The new AT&T U-verse TV Point Anywhere RF Remote Control is available for just $49, for more information visit the AT&T Store.

The AT&T remote anywhere does not live up to claims. I have
one and am having trouble making it work in same room as tv.

    Hi Edison,
I just read a comment about the same issue as yours it says:

Most of the remote problems are due to IR interference. A lot of LCD TVs produce this interference, and the U-Verse STB is quite susceptible.

    - changed the Energy Savings settings on my Samsung 40LN550 from Medium to Low, and everything is responding as it should. It’s crazy that that’s what it was, but it works. Both the Uverse remote and my Harmony remote are working as intended. For reference, my Uverse box is in a cabinet about 10″ below the left side of my TV.

    - Find the “energy saver” option on the LCD TV and turn it off. Also turn off any options such as DNR (dynamic noise reduction), automatic colour enhancement, and light sensor. These techniques work on some LCD TVs, removing the IR interference completely

Hope this helps, so far I have no problem my uverse

all I can say is thank you for posting! We have a Samsung HD tv and had JUST switched over from cox to at&t. the tech had some issues with the remote on setup, switched the box out, switched remotes, still had problems and thought it was because the outdoor cables were a bit old. Those were fixed the same day, still issues with the remote. Spoke w/ 2 different tech support guys and they sent me 2 new remotes. Same problem – they work with the box as long as the tv is off, or the remote is no more than 6 inches away from the box. Called tech support AGAIN. After wasting much valuable time finally got put on hold to transfer to a supervisor. During my 25 minute wait on hold I thought to myself, let’s see if anyone else is having these problems. Especially cause at&t is trying to sell me a $50 remote to fix a problem that they are clueless about. So I find this post and think wow, IR interferance makes complete sense! So I set the energy saver to off, and everything works beautifully! I waited a few more minutes on hold for the supervisor to get to me just so I could tell him that I had fixed it myself. :o ) Also to tell him what the problem was so they might be able to help some other poor soul avoid 2 weeks worth of frustration with a new service. Thanks again for being a life saver!!

I am amazed, but I have a Samsung LCD TV and have been struggling with the UVERSE remote not working for over 12 months now. Turning off the “Energy Saver” fixed the problem. Which I find completely insane and unbelievable. But bottom line is, my remote — finally– is working fine.

Glad to see I'm not the only one having rf remote issues. The remotes initially worked on both tv's when they were both turned on. After reading more of the user guide, I assigned each an individual home id number and they worked properly on each tv. Several days ago, I noticed when changing the channel in the living room, it also was changing the channel again on the bedroom tv. I reprogrammed the remotes again (multiple times) with an individual id number but they are still not working properly. They scheduled a technician to come out yesterday/last night and he came up with the same results I had. . You can use either remote and they will control both tv's. The technician even took the USB adaptor out of one receiver and the remote still changed the channel on both tv's. If anybody has any suggestions, all are welcomed.

Well…..I've been struggling for three weeks with the new RF remote and have found no resolution through ATT. Just went upstairs to my new 42" Sylvania, turned Power Saver to OFF and everything is now working properly.

You think there service stinks,,,,, they treat the technitions like slaves. In the summer time they make them work 70 to 80 hours a week. Thats most likley the resone why the techs cant help. They are to tired to do anything. And are expected to do net-working when they havent been trained on how to do anything like that. If the company wher to listen and train the techs in ALL the feilds that they are expected to do , I beleave it would be ran more effeciently and the quality of the work performed would greatly increase…. just sayin.
