We’re glad to tell you that the Xbox Live service should be back to normal today, after a week of disruptions. Xbox Live had been suffering from problems all week, but the latest news is that everything should be back as it was today.
As stated here over at DeviceMag, the downtime stopped many users from connecting to XboxLive all together, leading to a ‘lot’ of frustrated gamers, as you can imagine.
It wasn’t only XboxLive that has been suffering either, as Facebook and Twitter also experienced similar blackouts for a while. Today though, everything seems to be in place, well according to the XboxLiveStatus on Twitter anyway.
Were you affected by the Xbox Live downtime in your area? Let us know what problems you were experiencing. In light of the issues with Xbox Live recently, an article we have found here, again debates the topic on whether Xbox Live should remain a paid subscription service or become free like PSN.

considering you have to purchase the game as well as everything else on xbox 360, i have always thought you should not have to pay to play online…but then again i also beleive that if you purchase/own the game, you should be entitled to all themes/gamer pictures and other items not considered add-ons for free as well.
i traded my ps3 for a 360 due to lack of add on content for fall out 3 among other games and miss the free online, web browser, free downloads, and other things the xbox has been lacking. also i was disapointed with the way netflix is handled through xbox…if it is on the system i wish they would ditch the computer for browsing/adding movies to the que before you can watch them. i had to do the same thing with playon to watch netflix on my ps3 and figured since xbox and netflix were together it would ditch the computer need, plus i find it a double hit to need to have a gold subscription on top of paying for netflix in order to veiw netflix on xbox live, though i beleive play on works with the 360 as well, i just havent tried it yet.
