Windows 7 has arrived! TechNet and MSDN

Sat in my hand are the final versions of Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit and 64bit. Early yesterday the downloads for all the final release versions of Windows 7 went live on the TechNet and MSDN subscriber/partner pages, and a quick word of warning for those of you out there who subscribe to either of these services and already have the previous public release installed, you can’t upgrade the version you currently have installed, as shortly after clicking the “upgrade” button you receive an error back informing you that your version cannot be upgraded, so you will need to perform a fresh install.

The download servers seem to be handling the current traffic quite well, but you might want to hurry up and download your copy before the servers really start getting bogged down. It seems that the major bug we reported HERE has not affected the Windows 7 rollout at all, and that everything should still be set for release on October the 22nd.

Some people are reporting that only the English version is available, this is only partly true as the language packs for this Windows 7 release are also available on the TechNet and MSDN subscriber/partner pages. So yes only the English version is available, but feel free to install a Chinese language pack on if you wish!

    No, i’m sure this is some kind of beta, warez or some such; no way would MS release this for free to the masses 3 months before its official date.

    Microsoft TechNet and MSDN paying subscribers aswell as people who are signed up to Microsoft Software assurance and other partners, these are high end business subscriptions for the IT sector, it is not as you put it being released for free “to the masses 3 months before its official date”.

    MSDN costs up to tens of thousands of dollars for a subscription, you can view some prices here:

    Screen Sleuth: This is not warez or beta. TechNet Plus and MSDN subscribers are able to get full licenses and install materials for Windows 7 RTM. RTM is essentially what will be stamped onto the DVD’s that will ship out in the retail boxes on October 22nd. For those who haven’t tried out Windows 7, you can still get the Release Candidate for free from Microsoft until August 20th: http://tinyurl.com/9agzvs . If you are anxious to get the final version of Windows 7 before the October 22nd release date, you can always sign up for MSDN or TechNet Plus (it was released to them yesterday, see here: http://tinyurl.com/mpgp4h ). MSDN and TechNet Plus are not free, but they also have many other benefits (epecially if you are an IT Pro or developer).

    Got my Windows 7 Home Premium this morning full package 32 and 64 bit. It installed in 20 mins decided to go 64 bit for first time ever no problems driver wise have been playing NFS Shift wow. For any who are worried about the audio crackle they got on the Candidate realease, MS solved the problem. OK first day only so far but just for fun burnt my Vista disk with great satisfaction.
