
Microsoft Windows 7 Show Stopper Bug: An Update
By: Jamie Pert | August 7, 2009 | Leave a CommentFollowing the recent news of a “show stopper” bug in Windows 7, the president of Microsoft’s Windows Division, Steven Sinofsky recently released this statement “While we appreciate the drama of ‘critical bug’ and then the pickup of ‘showstopper’ that I’ve seen, we might take a step back and realize that this might not have that defcon level,”
The bug is related to Windows 7’s chkdsk /r tool, and is said to possible cause a memory leak, this memory leak could cause your PC to crash. According to Steven the bug has been blown out of proportion, and people are just jumping on the bandwagon.
Microsoft have blamed a chip-set controller and recommend Windows 7 customers to visit their motherboard manufacturers t download the latest chipset drivers for their particular motherboard.
