It has been reported that the highly anticipated TomTom kit for the Apple iPhone, has been made available for pre-order, from one online retailer in the UK. The pre-order price has yet to be officially confirmed by TomTom though, so it could be wrong.
According to AppleInsider, the TomTom iPhone Kit is available to pre-order here for £99, which is around $168.50. The price includes the TomTom cradle, as well as the accompanying software instructions.
However, TomTom spokesman Kevin Carter had this to say on the news:
“At this point we haven’t publicly announced pricing, either in the U.K. or the U.S.”
If the price turns out to be true though, $168.50 is not a bad deal at all, considering most standalone TomToms retail for around $200. Let us know your thoughts on the news.

Good grief the TomTom kit for iPhone is expensive.
There is no hardware but just a mounting kit and some software.
At that price why not just buy a nice TomTom with a bigger screen?
Also the way Apple is so restrictive with multiple apps running, won’t I have to be starting it back up if for some reason I need to use one of my $0.99 cent apps??? This TomTom is too too expensive.
If this device allows me to take a phone call, use one of my apps, listen to music, without quitting navigation then I think it is going to be great.
The base actually does include some TomTom proprietary hardware - a better GPS chip as well as a set of accelerometers better suited to tracking vehicle motion than iPhone’s own accelerometers.
If you Jailbreak your phone and install “Backgrounder” you can run multiple apps in the background.
