Windows 7 vs. Mac OS X 10.6: Amazon Pre-Orders

It has been revealed that Apple are currently winning the pre-order battle between their Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard software and Microsoft’s Windows 7 platform, in terms of most pre-orders with online retailer Amazon.

According to MacObserver, two of Apple’s pre-order packs, Mac OS X 10.6 and Mac OS X 10.6 Family Pack currently occupy the number one and two slot in the BestSellers list for Software category.

Meanwhile, Microsoft’s Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade package is way down in 16th position at the moment. Key reasons for this could be the price between the two, as Apple are only charging customers $29 for an upgrade, while Windows 7 is a ‘full version’ upgrade and will be priced at $119.

Apple are winning the battle at the moment, surely Windows 7 won’t stay towards the bottom for too long. Let us know what you are planning to pre-order.

I would have thought Windows 7 would receive the most interest because there’s not a huge amount wrong with Mac OS 10.5 to make users want to upgrade. There again price could be putting people off, Apple also do one main OS for everybody as opposed to selling supposedly reduced versions.

This is stupid, of course mac os x is selling more now, But look back when microsoft was doing its pre order deal that was when most people bought there copys of windows 7.

My pre-order for Windows 7 upgrade went in when Amazon’s price was $49.99.

i just tried the windows 7 pre release candidate, nice touch but that was what vista is supposed to look and act like, so in a way, they charge full price for ppl to buy something that is more like a big (as in super big) service pack upgard, to me, that is not fair! by the way, i am using 7 on mac with bootcamp :)
