It has been reported that European consumers will have to pay a staggering 163% more than consumers in the U.S if they want to make use of Microsoft’s in-place Anytime upgrades package for Windows 7.
According to ComputerWorld, Microsoft have denied that their prices for Windows 7 are ‘ripping’ off European consumers, but judging by that stat, it seems as if they are.
Anytime Upgrades allows customers to buy the cheapest version of Windows 7 and then purchase a separate ‘key’ to unlock more expensive features. The upgrades service will be available on October 22nd, the same date when Windows 7 gets it’s public release.
According to CW, the Home Premium-to-Professional Anytime Upgrade package will cost customers in France and Germany 163% more than in the U.S.
