Windows 7’s XP Mode final RC goes live
By: Daniel Chubb | August 5, 2009 | Leave a CommentWell with the official Windows 7 release date just a few months away (October the 22nd to be precise), everything seems to finally be coming together ready for the launch date, and that includes the finished launch version of the Windows 7 XP compatibility mode which has had vast improvements on features, performance and reliability than it had when in BETA earlier this year.
According to V3.co.uk the software now allows USB devices, such as printers or Flash drives, to be attached to Windows XP Mode applications directly from the Windows 7 taskbar and a few other nifty little features.
XP Compatibility mode runs through Windows Virtual PC, and to run this software you are required to have a processor that is capable of virtualization, so Intel processors with Intel® Virtualization Technology or AMD processors with AMD-V™. Also your PC’s BIOS has to support the feature and has to be enabled for you to be able to use it. You can find more information regarding Virtual PC and XP Mode over at the official Microsoft Windows Virtual PC page.
