Sony Reader Pocket Edition: PRS-300 In Detail

We informed you earlier about Sony’s plans to release two new e-books onto the market at the end of August. Now we take a look in detail at one of those e-books, the Sony PRS-300 Reader Pocket Edition.

As reported from UberGizmo, the Sony PRS-300 comes in a range of colors, including rose, silver and navy blue. It comes equipped with a 5-inch electronic paper display which is encased in a stylish chassis.

It’s compact design means that you are able to fit the device into a purse or pocket, one of the main selling points of the PRS-300 for sure.

While not having touch features like the accompanying PRS-600, navigation on the PRS-300 remains slick and easy, with navigation easily handled using a single hand.

In terms of memory, the Sony PRS-300 has the storage to hold up to 350 standard sized e-books. Battery life is pretty impressive too as you’ll be able to squeeze around two weeks of reading time, just with a single charge.

There are a lot of plus points about the Sony PRS-300, one of which being the $199 price tag. Many feared that Sony would take a familiar stance with new products and hike the price up, but it seems as if they really plan to go head to head with Amazon’s Kindle, by offering a price that is a great deal for customers.

Let us know if you are planning on picking up the Sony PRS-300. If you would like to view even more details, check out the service manual for the device here.

PRS-300 looks as a good choice, comparing the price of competition. Pity it does not have support for expansion and dictionary. Still, market of e-readers is far from maturity.
