Sony Reader Pocket and Touch Editions: Taking on Kindle

Sony has two products on the way in the Reader Pocket and Reader Touch editions that the company hope will rival Amazon’s Kindle e-book reader. Both are due at the end of August and are set to re-ignite the e-book market as customers will now have a lot more options to choose from.

As reported from BusinessWeek, The Sony Reader Pocket Edition is expected to sell for $199, while the Reader Touch Edition will be more expensive at $299. Both will be available on the 25th August, with the Pocket Edition being $100 cheaper than Amazon’s Kindle 2 at the moment.

Will Amazon be forced to slash their price in order to compete with Sony’s upcoming products? The Touch Edition is said to feature tech that will allow users to swipe their finger across the screen in order to turn pages.
