AMD’s chipset to support Microsoft Windows 7

Graphics specialists AMD have announced that they have developed a chipset that will support the upcoming Windows 7 platform, expected to go live on October 22nd. The new chipset will offer support for faster media-streaming technology and integrated graphics.

As reported from ZDNet, the new chipset will be known as the AMD 785G chipset and will feature integrated graphics that are based on the ATI Radeon HD 4200. The chipset will have support for DirectX 10.1 games and UVD2 (unified video decoder) support.

AMD Service Director Clive Longbottom states: “This is aimed at a very specific part of the market, and will likely appeal to system builders who want to shave costs off entry-level PCs by removing the need for a separate graphics card,”
