Sony PS3 Slim: Rumored price starts at £260

More on the PS3 Slim now, as rumored pricing details have now surfaced. It has also been rumored that Sony are planning to release the PS3 Slim in two SKU options, a 40GB and 80GB version.
According to VG247, prices for the PS3 Slim are set to start at £260 ($440), presumably for the 40GB version. With that said, expect Sony to beef up the price for the 80GB version.
All reports are leading to August 18th for the big announcement. And why not, they have 3 hours to talk about it, so we’re all for it. Its also thought that the standard PS3 system will recieve a price cut, possibly to around £199 ($337).

A slim version could reinvigorate the market but they need to get the price below £200 for that, not old stock. £199 for a 20gb PS3 would would be a much more attractive proposition for those looking to move on from the Wii.
This is of course about juggling the numbers as HDDs are so cheap and $ony are already making a massive mark up on them.
