A lot of sites are currently reporting that RIM are now planning to integrate front-facing cameras on its future BlackBerry handsets. This is to help develop video conferencing which has been one of RIM’s major concentrations for BlackBerry handsets.
Whilst announcing the plans questions were asked about Apple perhaps releasing a front facing camera for the iPhone an executive for RIM took an indirect jab at AT&T by saying “As I said before, we are fortunate to have our relationships with many different carriers, some of which can handle something like live video-conferencing.”. This statement seems to suggest that according to RIM AT&T would not be able to handle video conferencing if Apple added front facing cameras to future iPhones.
