Best Buy’s New CEO In Europe

Best Buy Europe today announced that they have a new CEO, his name is Scott Wheway and has previously worked for Tesco’s Stores for over 20 years in varying roles, these roles included operations director and change director. Wheway previosuly worked for Best Buy International which had a lot to do with the emergence of Best Buy Europe.
Best Buy Europe is the result of a merger between Best Buy US and the UK’s Carphone Warehouse, currently they are active in 9 European Countries, with a total of 2,450 stores. It is thought that Best Buy Europes biggest concentration for The Carphone Warehouse is said to be to expand its online and direct businesses along with its insurance operations, there is also plans for Best Buy stores to be opening in the UK in early 2010.
Robert Willet who is the chairman of Best Buy Europe has this to say about Scott Wheway “Scott is the consummate retailer. He’s never forgotten his roots as a line-level store employee, and he remains passionate about meeting customer needs. His energy and background are a brilliant fit for this exciting challenge as we move forward with our strategy in Europe.”
