Firefox reaches 1 billion downloads today

Within the last hour, we can now confirm to you that the Firefox browser has passed the 1 billion downloads milestone. The downloads are increasing at an amazing rate, with a estimated 15 downloads every second.
According to Mozilla’s Twitter account which monitors downloads for Firefox, the figure as it stands at the moment is around 1,000,092,204 downloads, subject to change of course.
PCWorld reports that a Firefox download predictor website, predicted that Firefox would reach the milestone around 12 noon today, but that wasn’t the case. But hey, you wasn’t far off!
It has also been reported that Mozilla are planning to launch a website, in celebration of the achievement. Let us know your thoughts on the news.
