It has just been reported that Apple are expected to release a patch this weekend, for the iPhone SMS exploit issue that many of you have been having problems with. Apple were unable to comment on the security flaw, but UK network operator O2 has instead confirmed the news.
According to the BBC, O2 have stated that the update will come in the form of a software patch and will be available through iTunes on Saturday. The statement from O2 reads:
“We will be communicating to customers both through the website and proactively. We always recommend our customers update their iPhone with the latest software and this is no different.”
The exploit once activated, results in iPhones disconnecting from the O2 network and leaves the device open to attack easily, allowing hackers to create their own programs if they wish.
We’ll let you know when the patch is available. More news over at the BBC.
