Twitter: Reasons why it’s now a serious business tool
By: Alan Ng | July 30, 2009 | Leave a CommentOrginally Twitter started off as a simple extension of communicating with your friends, building on what MySpace and Facebook started to achieve. Over the last 6 months, Twitter has really taken off on the internet and its now looked at as a serious business tool in the media industry.
Whats good about Twitter is that while it is now used for all sorts of different things such as protests or latest news bulletins, it still remains a fun thing for people using it for its social purposes.
As Dan Frommer, senior editor of Silicon Alley Insider points out:
“This could be a moment when more people see they should take Twitter more seriously, that it can play an important role in major events, that when something big happens and you need to message the public instantly, Twitter lets you do that.”
What are your thoughts about Twitter? Do you still use it for social purposes or are you now thinking about its advantages on the business side?
