Microsoft Yahoo Deal: Not the end for Google

Following yesterdays Yahoo search takeover by Microsoft, many analysts have been looking at how this may affect the current market leader for search engines Google. The general opinion is that Google won’t be hugely nervous about the new deal for two main reasons, one of the reasons is that Google are used to industry giants trying to take them on, and secondly they probably new this deal was coming a long time ago.

An analyst named Karsten Weide recenty said this about Google “I don’t think they’re going to be very afraid of this,” and added “A number of people have said Google should be scared now, but it’s not like this is going to change the world or turn things upside down. This is going to make Microsoft and Yahoo more competitive but it’s not going to dethrone Google.”.

The most recent figures show that Google currently cater for around 78% of the search engine market, whereas the total for all Microsoft and Yahoo search engines is still shy of 20%. Obviously now these two have joined forces it is extremely likely that their market share will grow, however not many believe that they will ever become the market leader.
