IPhone hacker can alter jailbreak handsets
By: Jamie Pert | July 30, 2009 | 1 CommentApple’s latest attempt to put off consumers from jailbreaking their iPhones claims that “jailbroken iPhones could be used to attack and disable cell-towers”, this is said to be possible as by hacking the iPhone it could allow hackers to see the “code which controls how the iPhone connects to a cellular network”.
Personally I think the claim is more to do with the fact that Apple do not want their iPhones jailbroken as it seems to violate the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) of 1998, this copyright act states that “no person shall circumvent a technological measure that effectively controls access to a work protected under this title.”.
While I do think that jailbreaking the iPhone does break this act, I do however feel that the way Apple are shaming the jailbreaking hackers is quite pathetic. Lets face it probably 99.99% of people wanting their iPhones jailbroken, just want to use their handset on a different carrier.
