CES 2010: The truth about Apple. Attending or not?

Yesterday, Ben Charny at the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) website reported that next year Apple would indeed be attending the Consumer Electronics Show for the first time, and the word soon spread throughout the web. It seems that the WSJ got their info from Gary Shapiro who is the Chief Executive of the Consumer Electronics Association (The group that puts on the CES) who at a dinner with journalists earlier this week stated that Steve Jobs had indeed been invited to CES 2010, but he had not received a response back yet.
It honestly seems that the spin doctors have been at it again, at no point did Shapiro state that Jobs would indeed be attending, in actual fact if you look at the transcript reported at the Financial Times techblog you would see that Shapiro has invited Jobs to attend before, and sometimes apple says “no” and sometimes they don’t respond at all.
In conclusion, it seems that no definite answer has been given by any official source, so its not to say that Apple won’t attend, but we here at Product Reviews think it is highly unlikely, but there is absolutely no harm in a bit of positive thinking, because you never know, a lot can happen between now and CES 2010!
