Nokia N97 is like a small laptop

Well Nokia’s answer to the iPhone has been compared to more of a Micro-Laptop than an actual Smartphone by the ChannelNewsAsia website, and we here at Product Reviews happen to agree. The N97 is very well equipped, and even though it has its downsides, it also has big upsides to compensate for any shortfalls that it has, and lets face it, this is one hot looking device!

When looking at this phone from a distance, it just looks like any old touch screen Smartphone, but get a little closer and take a proper look, you will soon have your mind changed. With a glorious 3.5” touch screen display and a nicely sized slide-out qwerty keyboard that doesn’t feel too awkward to use (like some BlackBerry’s are), it has a 3.5mm standard audio jack which you can plug your favourite set of headphones into, and a micro USB port so you can upload all your music onto the phone. And as the N97 has internal memory of 32 GB, plus an SD card slot so you can expand it up to 48 GB, you won’t be short of space for your music collection. Or if you’re feeling a bit more artistic you could attempt to fill the space with pictures seeing as the N97 is loaded with a pretty impressive 5 megapixel camera, well impressive by phone standards anyway as the quality of the shots are pretty decent.

The biggest downside to this phone is its price, it retails for $1,028 but if you want to take advantage of Nokia’s excellent music service you will need to shell out an addition $200. So the N97 may be Nokia’s answer to Apple’s iPhone, but during a recession we think the iPhone will remain far above the N97 simply due to the excessively high price of the N97, for that cash you would be better off spending it on an ACTUAL Mini-laptop/netbook, and getting a mobile broadband package to go with it.
